BECKLEY – A Dutch man says he was injured while ziplining on a tour operated by a company based in Greenbrier County.
Rudolf Christian de Back filed his complaint in federal court against Greenbrier Outfitters Inc., also known as Broadmoor Outfitters.
According to the complaint, de Back and his family were on an 88-day trip across the United States when they decided to take part in a guided zipline tour in Colorado Springs. The tour was organized and operated by Broadmoor Outfitters. During their participation on March 4, 2023, de Back alleges he was injured while using the individual brake system on one of the ziplines.
The lawsuit claims de Back received instructions from Broadmoor Outfitters' staff on how to use the gear properly, including how and when to apply the individual brake on the zipline. However, when he attempted to apply this brake while descending down a steep drop on the fourth zipline of the course, he was unable to slow himself down sufficiently.
The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages. He is being represented by Ben Salango and Sarah Hunter of Salango Law in Charleston.
