Powerful sprinkler injured woman, suit claims

CHARLESTON - A Putnam County woman has filed a suit against a local greenhouse after she was injured when the force of a water sprinkler knocked her to the ground.
Frances Sidars filed the suit April 9 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Tony's Market & Landscaping Center, Inc.
According to the suit, Sidars visited Tony's on May 3, 2006, when she walked into the garden center nursery with the owner, Tony Ghareeb. Sidars claims she was struck by water from a sprinkler system and knocked to the ground.
According to the suit, Sidars suffered severe injury to her right hand and wrist, a fracture of the radius at the base of her thumb, and a fracture of the ulna near the base of her little finger. She also sustained a torn rotator cuff.
Sidars claims she suffered serious bodily injury and tremendous pain and suffering, loss of ability to perform household services, loss of ability to enjoy life, humiliation, embarrassment, annoyance and inconvenience, as well as other economic and non-economic damages, which losses she will continue to suffer into the future, the suit says.
Sidars seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
Attorney Robert B. Warner is representing Sidars. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
