Grocer named in slip-and-fall suit

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a local grocery store after she slipped and hit her head.

Phyllis Delmore filed the suit Aug. 1 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against Bigley Market, doing business as Foodland.

According to the suit, Delmore went to the store on Bigley Avenue in Charleston on Aug. 5, 2006. While shopping, she slipped and fell on a spilled liquid. Delmore claims she hit her head due to the fall.

Delmore claims she has sustained medical bills in excess of $19,000. She seeks compensation for her medical bills, as well as other unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

Attorney Eunice L. Green is representing Delmore. The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
